Living in DC it's easy to take our cultural opportunities for granted. Thankfully, we made it out for some of this summer's Smithsonian American Folklife Festival. One of the featured regions was the Ozarks and the Ozarks sent us these folks. Sad Daddy consists of 4 talented folks who each take the spotlight at different times. Melissa Carper plays stand up in Sad Daddy and has her own flourishing solo thing going on. (Played the Opry this summer.) Anyway, we caught them at a @Hamlinstreetdiner show and enjoyed a night of honest country, hillbilly, mountain music. Forgive the labels, it was just good, American music. At the festival we also caught a set from The Creek Rocks and we heard alluring songs about possums, groundhogs, boll weevils, and muskrats. More good music. Give them all a listen!
