About BFN

Buck Forty Nine was born (or were we hatched?) out of a previous acoustic setup called One Thin Dime. We raised our price to $1.49 – a price tag on one of George’s vintage ties. BFN has been a low-key twang band in the D.C. area for over 15 years but with a long hiatus in there somewhere. We were getting the engine running again when our friend Corona drove us all into our caves. Now this group of cavemen has emerged again.

BFN is inspired by classic country, rockabilly, rock, blues, and whatever else catches our ears. We play some great, but not worn out, cover songs. We also have a healthy dose of lyrically inventive toe-tapping originals to get you out of your seat. We can get loud or subdued, depending on the situation. We like a barn burner as much as a slow, sad, country waltz.

Venues we’ve played: Hell's Bottom VFW Takoma, Quarry House Tavern, Haydee's in Adams Morgan, Simple Bar in Brightwood, the late, great Chick Hall’s Surf Club, Whelan’s in Dublin, Ireland; Wonderland Ballroom, joints on H street that no longer exist, backyard parties, weddings, and street corners.

We range from 3 (no drums- mostly acoustic) to 5 members (drums and steel guitar).  Let's bring some music to your next gathering!
